It is good to take note of the growth and disparity in the US when it comes to women and Christian ministry.
Here are some statistics regarding Women’s role in the broader Faith Community.
· No Female Ordination in Jewish Orthodox, Latter Day Saints (Mormon),
Missouri Synod Lutheran Church (LCMS), Muslim, Orthodox Church in
America, Roman Catholic Church, or Southern Baptist Churches
· *In* 2017 women remain fewer than 25% of seminary faculty and
deans, and just 11% of Presidents
· In 1960 women were 2.3% of US clergy. In 2016 women are 20.7% of
US Clergy
· Since 2015 Roman Catholic lay ministers outnumber priests in the US
and 80% are women
· Most Mainline denominations, the percentage of clergywomen has
doubled or tripled since 1994
· Unitarian Universalist and United Church of Christ clergywomen
have reached numerical equity with clergymen.
· More women of color and fewer white women are going to seminary to
earn MDivs since 2008
· Protestant church female pastors have doubled with women in senior
or solo leadership
· Full time male pastors receive 27% more than females-$15,000
difference
